Physiotherapy and clinical lymphatic care, St. Albert
Sore, stiff, and tired of being told to wait it out.
A back that keeps going, a knee that will not settle, a shoulder that has quietly stopped moving, swelling nobody has explained. Most people arrive having already been told it will sort itself out. Sometimes that is true. Often it is not. We assess properly, tell you what is actually going on, and stay honest about what we can and cannot change.
- One clinician, your whole visit
- Direct billing available
- Same-day appointments often available

Most weeks, this is who walks in
Pain that keeps coming back, and nobody has told you why
Backs, necks, knees, shoulders and hips. After surgery, after a collision, after a shift that went wrong. The pattern is nearly always the same: it settled once, it came back, and no one explained the reason.

What that looks like here
A full assessment on the first visit, treatment the same visit rather than next week, and a written plan that says what we are aiming at. If physiotherapy is not the right answer for what you have, we will say so and tell you what is.
What we treat
Eight services, one clinic, one record of your care
One clinician runs your appointment from start to finish. If you need a second service later, your record moves with you, so nobody starts your story from the beginning twice.

Most people are not, and it is not your job to know. Book an assessment and we will work out what this is, or tell you plainly that it is not something we treat.

Swelling that nobody has properly explained to you
Most people who call us have already been somewhere else. They were told to elevate it, wait it out, or book a massage. Sometimes that is the right advice. Often it means months lost and a problem that is harder to treat.

The difference
This is clinical lymphatic care. Not a spa massage.
Manual lymphatic drainage is a specific medical technique. Done properly it moves lymph fluid through a system that is congested, damaged or recovering from surgery. Done as a relaxation massage, it does very little.
We treat the lymphatic system the way it needs to be treated: assessed first, then a documented protocol using Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Complete Decongestive Therapy and compression, with measurement between sessions so you can see it working.
- Post-surgical drainage after liposuction, tummy tuck and BBL
- Primary and secondary lymphedema, including post-cancer
- Lipedema care and long-term management
- Compression fitting and home routine you can actually keep up

Starting is the easy part
Three steps, and you will know where you stand
No referral needed to book. You will leave the first visit understanding what is going on and what the plan is.

Choose a slot online, or call and speak to someone. If you are post-surgical, bring your surgeon's instructions and we will work inside them.
A full assessment, and where there is swelling, actual limb measurement. You get a plain explanation of what is happening and what is realistic.
Hands-on treatment, compression guidance where it is needed, and a home routine you can keep up. We re-measure so you can see whether it is working.
Straight answers
What we will tell you, even when it costs us the booking
Plenty of places will sell you a package before they have looked at you. Here is what you will hear from us instead.
When it will not help
Manual lymphatic drainage does not detoxify the body, burn fat, or cure lymphedema. If your swelling is venous, cardiac or a medication effect, drainage is the wrong tool and we will say so and point you to the right one.
What we measure
Where there is swelling we take limb measurements and re-take them. You do not have to trust an impression of whether it is improving. You get the numbers, and if they are not moving we change the plan or refer on.
How long it really takes
Post-surgical swelling is usually a course of treatment, not one visit. Lymphedema is managed for life, not cured. We would rather you hear that from us now than discover it after paying for a package.
Our clinical position
Lymphatic drainage is a specific clinical technique with a specific purpose. Used as a relaxation massage it is something else entirely, and after surgery it can set you back.

Who treats you
Physiotherapy and Vodder-trained lymphatic care, under one roof
This clinic did not start from nothing. The lymphatic practice behind it has been treating lymphedema, lipedema and post-surgical swelling across Edmonton and Whitecourt, in patients' homes and inside other clinics. St. Albert is where that work finally has a room of its own, and it now sits alongside physiotherapy, osteopathy and massage therapy under one roof.
- Dr. Vodder School InternationalManual Lymphatic Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy, trained through the school that developed the technique. This is the recognised standard, not a weekend certificate.
- Alberta Lymphedema Association memberPart of the provincial lymphedema community, not working in isolation from it.
- Edmonton, Whitecourt, and now St. AlbertThe same lymphatic practice that has run as a mobile and in-clinic service across the region. St. Albert is the permanent clinic.
- Two clinicians, one recordLymphatic care sits beside physiotherapy for orthopaedic, pelvic health, sports, collision and WCB work, so you are not sent elsewhere mid-recovery.
